John Lewis to Accept Award from Men Stopping Violence

Men Stopping Violence will be presenting Congressman John Lewis with the Dick Bathrick Activist Award at the 30th Anniversary Awards Dinner on October 27, 2012. John Lewis served as the first President of the Board of Men Stopping Violence. Although he was extremely busy, Congressman Lewis was willing to take on this additional task because he is committed to safety and justice for women and girls. That commitment continues.  On February 10, 2011, Congressman Lewis hosted a panel on teen dating violence prevention to discuss, “Why Middle School Matters.” Each year Congressman Lewis sponsors a bipartisan resolution to raise awareness of the alarming trend of abuse in youth relationships. Breaking the cycle of violence at the earliest possible opportunity is a cornerstone of the Congressman’s legislative agenda.

The 30th Anniversary Men Stopping Violence Awards Dinner will be held at the Four Seasons Hotel in midtown at 6:30 PM on October, 27. Watch the video below for scenes from last year’s dinner.
