Take a Stand

The May issue of People Magazine featured the story of Yeardley Love, who was murdered by her ex-boyfriend, George Huguely. It turns out that George attended Landon School. In June, the New York Times carried a column that exposed what we view as the school's cavalier attitude toward a group of boys involved in a campaign of sexual degradation of 14 year-old girls. Please join us in helping Landon School undertake a campaign to change the culture of disrespect and objectification of girls. Email jean_erstling@Landon.net with the following message:
Dear Ms. Erstling,

I would like to suggest two possibilities that will help connect the Landon family to the school's tenet of respect, particularly for girls. I recommend that you contact Men Stopping Violence, which offers training programs for schools and fraternal organizations. I also recommend that you contact Men Can Stop Rape, based in Washington D.C., to inquire about Landon starting a Men of Strength Club. The Men of Strength Clubs provide young men with a structured and supportive space to build individualized definitions of masculinity that promote healthy relationships. Thank you for your consideration of this request.

Sincerely,
